James Williamson from Team Williamson PSG began the championship well, taking the best time across stage 3.
James’ father Jonathon is still not match fit following a shoulder injury sustained during the French National Shotgun Championship. However, he was there to support James and run one of the stages.
‘The Scottish Masters was a challenging match designed to push you into being fast but making it difficult with tight no shoots on certain stages. At the midpoint, the stages got the better of me, and I hit two no-shoots on stages 6 and 7 and missed stage 5.”
“It’s easy to lose focus midway through a match, but we then came to the stage that Dad (Jonathon) was helping out on. Of course, I wanted to make him proud and got my head back in the game to shoot stage 9”
Stage 9 was a tricky set-up with sliding doors, but James managed to win it overall by well over 2 seconds to the next competitor. With James regaining confidence, he managed to shoot well for the remaining 4 stages and hold on for the win in the Modified division and finished 4th overall out of 113 competitors.
